Ida Androwich

Dr. Ida Androwich, PhD, RN BC, FAAN

Dr. Androwich, Project Director for the Loyola I-PATH project, is a Professor of Nursing at Loyola University Chicago teaching graduate courses in Health Care Informatics, Systems, and Population-Based Infection Control. Her educational credentials include a BSN (Magna cum Laude) from Loyola University Chicago, a MS in Public Health Nursing and a PhD in Public Health from the University of Illinois.

Dr. Androwich has published and presented internationally in the area of Health Care Informatics. She has received considerable grants to collect data from hospitals and health groups to carry out this research in an effort to make the lives of patients better, as well as improve patient-nurse relationships. She has led funded research related to national efforts to standardize health care vocabularies and serves in leadership roles including the ANA’s NIDSEC Committee, the AMIA-NIWG Leadership Group, AONE Technology Task Force, TIGER, the Vanderbilt Terminology Summit Steering Committee, and Co-Chair of Walmart’s Consumer Awareness of HIT Committee.

She is a member of the American Academy of Nursing Workforce and Technology Commission, was Co-Chair of the Expert Panel in NI and on the National Alliance of Health Information Technology Board. Dr. Androwich also serves as Director of Online Journal of Nursing Informatics Corporation, a member of Nursing Editorial Advisory Board of Zynx Health Incorporated, and is a trustee of Appalachian Regional Healthcare, Inc.

Dr. Androwich’s passion for health informatics poured the foundation for the I-PATH project, as health information sharing is at the core of I-PATH’s inter-professional collaboration mantra. She has always been a proponent of clear communication between all parties involved in clinical care, especially nurse related information capture. Her skills as an educator and champion of collaborative health care make her a natural for guiding the I-PATH program.
